This privacy policy covers the website gnocchiapps.eu, operated by GnocchiApps (Flavio Trillo) (“we”, “us”). It describes what personal data is processed when you visit this website. Our apps (such as Precious) have their own, separate privacy policies, linked from each app’s own page.

Hosting and server logs

This website runs on a server operated by Hetzner Online GmbH (Industriestr. 25, 91710 Fürth, Germany), in a data centre in Germany. Hetzner processes data on our behalf as a processor.

Like practically every web server, ours keeps a standard access log (Apache, “combined” format): the IP address, requested URL, timestamp, referrer, user-agent string and HTTP status code of every request. This log exists solely to keep the site running securely — spotting errors and fending off abuse — and is automatically rotated and deleted after 14 days. The legal basis is our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) in operating the website securely and reliably.

If a technical error occurs on the server, such as a bug in WordPress or a plugin, the website automatically creates an error report and sends it to our own error monitoring (GlitchTip), which runs on the same server. A report contains the error message, technical details of the program flow, the requested address without parameters, and the date and time. IP addresses, browser details, cookies and form input are not sent, and e-mail addresses in error messages are masked beforehand. The reports are used solely to spot and fix errors quickly and are deleted automatically after 90 days. Here too, the legal basis is our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) in operating the website securely and reliably.

Cookies

This website sets exactly one cookie: pll_language, set by our multilingual plugin (Polylang) once you pick German or English. It stores only that language choice, expires after a year, and is used for nothing else. Because it’s technically necessary for a basic site function (showing the right language), it doesn’t require consent under the ePrivacy rules. Beyond that, this website sets a statistics cookie (Matomo) — but only after you’ve agreed to it in the cookie banner. See “Statistics (Matomo)” below for detail.

Contact form

The contact form on this website sends your input by email to support@gnocchiapps.eu. It collects your email address, the app you selected and your message, and optionally your name and the app and iOS version. Fields marked optional can be left blank.

Your details are used only to handle your request. The legal basis is taking steps requested by you prior to and in handling your enquiry (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR), and your consent given via the form’s checkbox (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time with effect for the future. The message is not stored in a database on this website — it is sent as an email and from then on lives in our mailbox, until it has been dealt with and is no longer needed.

Both forms carry a field that’s invisible to people (a “honeypot”): if software fills it in by mistake, the submission is discarded as spam. We also cap submissions at 5 per hour per visitor; to do that we remember, for that one hour, not your IP address itself but a hash of it salted with a secret value, from which the address cannot be recovered. No third-party CAPTCHA is used. The legal basis for these measures is our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) in preventing abuse.

Sending email

Emails you send us via the forms are delivered through Scaleway SAS (8 rue de la Ville l’Évêque, 75008 Paris, France) as a processor (Scaleway Transactional Email). Incoming email to our addresses is held at Hetzner (see above). Both providers are based in the EU.

Statistics (Matomo)

We use the analytics tool Matomo to understand how our website is used — for example, which pages are viewed and how visitors find us. Matomo runs on our own server (self-hosted, under gnocchiapps.eu itself), so your data is never sent to an external analytics provider.

Matomo only becomes active once you agree to the “Statistics” category in the cookie banner. Without that consent, no tracking code runs and no statistics cookies are set.

If you consent, Matomo sets two cookies: _pk_id (13 months, recognizes returning visitors) and _pk_ses (30 minutes, groups page views into one visit). Your IP address is anonymized before it’s stored (the last two bytes are removed) — we cannot identify you personally from the data we keep.

The legal basis is your consent (§ 25(1) TTDSG and Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time with effect for the future via this website’s cookie settings. We maintain a continuously up-to-date, technical cookie overview via the Complianz plugin: Cookie Policy.

No advertising or social-media embeds

We show no advertising and embed no third-party content (such as social-media platforms). Fonts are self-hosted rather than loaded from an external service like Google Fonts. Beyond Matomo (above), we use no other analytics or tracking tools.

International data transfers

Our processors (Hetzner, Scaleway) process data only within the EU. There is no transfer of data to a third country.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20), and to object to processing based on legitimate interest (Art. 21). Where you’ve given consent via a form, you can withdraw it at any time with effect for the future.
